Why We Exist

The African American community of Jacksonville is disproportionately impacted by societal ills such as poverty, discrimination, and other forms of inequality.

Our Core Focus Points:

The livelihood of our citizens is greatly determined by the quality and efficacy of social justice, economic development, public education, leadership, health care, voter education, ballot initiatives, and more. As such, our organization has identified these statewide, legislative, multicounty, and local topics as the roots and causes of continuous inequity.

Both caused and aggravated by these past and current socioeconomic conditions — in addition to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic — the cumulative layers of discrimination, lack of opportunity, and lack of access imposed upon our community persist and serve a deterrent to growth and development

Commonly, these disadvantages are presented in the forms of:

  • Health and health care disparities
  • Inadequate school funding
  • The digital divide
  • Food deserts
  • High infant mortality rates
  • Low life expectancies
  • High crime rates
  • Substandard housing
  • High unemployment rate
  • And more

How Our Funds Are Used:

Significant funds will be allocated to outreach and social media messaging to African Americans in Jacksonville, as well as to the general public in support of mission-targeted activities, initiatives and/or events.

To the extent consistent with our mission and applicable law, funds may be distributed to non-profit organizations that are performing services aligned with our mission and values.

Funds will only be used in support of the organization’s central mission, meaning we will NOT endorse or transfer available funds to candidates.
